NCFE CACHE Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner

The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years,0-5 years. Upon successful completion of this qualification learners can be a qualified Level 2 Early Years Practitioner or continue to study for a Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Educator .

Entry Requirement
- Learners must be at least 19 years old.
- NCFE does not prescribe any other qualifications or previous experience, although an individual college or training provider may set its own admission guidelines.
- Learners must also have access to a real early years work environment, either through employment, volunteering or a practical placement, because practical competence must be assessed in the workplace. NCFE recommends approximately 250 placement hours.

Course Content
- The qualification takes approximately 24 weeks to complete.
- Recommended placement: 250 hours.
- The course prepares learners to work with babies and young children from birth to five years, while also developing knowledge of children up to seven years old. It covers the responsibilities of an early years practitioner, health and safety, safeguarding, equality and inclusion, child development, care routines, educational activities, play, healthy lifestyles, physical activity, special educational needs and disabilities, positive behaviour, partnership working and supporting children through transitions. Practical skills are demonstrated and observed in a real early years workplace.
