NCFE CACHE Level 3 Award in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities

This qualification is aimed at learners who support individuals with learning disabilities as part of their job role.
The units offered within this qualification mirror those offered within the Learning Disabilities Pathway of the Health and Social Care Diplomas in England.

​Entry Requirement 

  •  Learners must be at least 19 years old.

 

  • Learners must also be working, volunteering or completing a practical placement, because they must demonstrate competence in both knowledge and practical skills.

 

Course Content 

  • The qualification can usually be completed in approximately 6 weeks.

 

  • The course develops the knowledge and practical skills needed to support children, young people or adults with learning disabilities. It covers the nature and characteristics of learning disabilities, relevant legislation, communication, person-centred planning and appropriate forms of support. Depending on the optional units chosen, learners may also study active support, positive risk-taking, healthcare access, autism, independent advocacy, mental wellbeing, personal relationships, finances, housing, assistive technology and transitions into adulthood.

To gain this Qualification the learner will need to achieve the following 

  • Learners normally pass at least three units in total:
  1. One mandatory unit, worth 4 credits.
  2. At least two optional units, provided those optional units produce at least 12 credits.
