NCFE CACHE Level 3 Award for Special Educational Needs Coordinators in Early Years Settings

This qualification is aimed at learners who support children and young people with learning disabilities as part of their professional role. It develops the knowledge and skills needed to provide person-centred support, promote inclusion and independence, and meet the individual needs of people with learning disabilities in a range of care settings.
Entry Requirement
- Learners must be at least 19 years old.
- It may be helpful to have already completed a Level 2 qualification.
- The learner must also be working, volunteering or completing a practical placement in an appropriate setting.
Course Content
- The qualification can usually be completed in approximately 6 weeks.
- The qualification develops the knowledge required to perform the SENCo role in an early years setting. Learners study SEND legislation and statutory guidance, the responsibilities of an early years SENCo, early identification of additional needs, partnership working with families and professionals, and support during transitions. It also covers the graduated assess, plan, do and review approach, Education, Health and Care plans, English as an additional language, monitoring children’s progress, and strategies for supporting children and their families.
To gain this Qualification the learner will need to achieve the following

- Roles and Responsibilities of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator in the Early Years
- Strategies and Techniques for Supporting Children and Families
There are no optional units.
